Do I need a sponsor to join?

No, sponsors are not required to join.  Prospective members will have an advisor throughout the first year to help them get acquainted with who we are and what we do.

How much are membership dues?

Membership dues are paid annually in May and are $70 per year.

What is the difference between Community Service Programs (CSPs) and Committees?

JWC has 6 CSPs: Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International/Public Affairs and Fund Development.  Each member belongs to one CSP for a club year.  In the following year a member rotates to another CSP, so eventually a member serves in every CSP in the club.  

Our committees work with special projects throughout the year that the entire club focuses on OR internal functions within the club to assist the overall membership, such as our Membership Committee which helps plan our social functions.  Another example is the State Tree Lighting Committee which assists in gathering and organizing resources for that event.

When does the club convene?

The club meets between September and May of each year and has the summer off.

Are there any requirements for membership?

Yes. Active members must fulfill the following requirements during a Club year:

• Attend a minimum of six General meetings per year. An excused absence (including illness, family conflict or job conflict) may be obtained by notifying any Club officer prior to a meeting.
• Attend three (3) meetings and or activities with her assigned CSP throughout the year.
• Complete twenty hours of community service through Club projects. A General or CSP Meeting can only count toward the required 20 hours if a service project is being performed at the meeting. The required participation of club members in Fund Development projects will be presented to the Board of Directors and General Membership for approval. If approved, these hours will count toward the 20 community service hours required.
• Participate in one GFWC-NC or District VI sponsored event every two years.
