Committees

These are all of the committees within JWC of Raleigh.  Most committees are open to all members so that you can participate in many different areas, in addition to your departmental projects.

Advisory

Acts as "Consultants� to the Club, makes recommendations regarding the club to the President.

Appeals

Hears members' requests for Special Consideration (childbirth, family illness, job situations, and District/State Official Positions), reviews delinquencies with members who fail to fulfill requirements, reviews requests for reinstatement, serves any member or group of members desiring a hearing to appeal the action of the Board of Directors.  Recommends action to the Board of Directors when necessary.

Awards

Selects recipients of our Club"s Awards based on members� recommendations.

Courtesy

Sends sympathy/get-well/congratulations cards to members; helps to organize meals for members in need, and publishes information in the newsletter; responsible for preparing the club name tags and having them available at each meeting.  

Community Improvement Program (CIP)

Identifies a community need and then develops an event to support the project. In the past, golf tournaments, casino nights and silent auctions have been held with the funds raised from the event being ear-marked for the project. Past recipients of funds have included Breast Cancer Awareness, Loaves and Fishes, Museum of Natural Science, and the Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network, and the Fill the Tanks project for the NC Aquariums. 

Endowment

Responsible for presenting either a scholarship to someone in need, or an award/contribution to a needy cause or organization dealing with furthering the education of an adult. The committee conducts a fundraiser, typically selling pecans, and the profits are invested in the Endowment CD. The Endowment CD is permanently invested and thus, only the dividends are used by the Club.

Federation Focus

Works to encourage involvement of our Club on the District, State and National levels of the General Federation of Women�s Clubs (GFWC). Keeps club information of Federation activities, encourages participation by club members. Implements projects relative to current Federation emphases when appropriate. 

Finance

Reviews and establishes a yearly proposed budget for the club. Conducts an annual audit of the books.

Junior/General

Works to encourage involvement between the Woman�s Club of Raleigh and our Club. Keeps our Club informed of Woman�s Club projects and publishes event dates in our newsletter. Writes articles to promote and encourage participation in our projects in their newsletter the Tel-A-Woman.

Membership

Works with prospective members in introducing them to our Club. Plans the Fall Social, the information sessions and any socials for the new members. The Membership Committee is composed of a minimum of nine members with the Membership Vice President being the Chairman. At least one-half of the committee will be from the previous year�s associate class.

Newsletter/Yearbook

Prepares the Yearbook for printing. Helps type and proofread the Yearbook.  Helps with the mailing of the Newsletters. 

Nominating

Responsible for preparing a slate of candidates and presenting them to the club for election. Nomination forms are distributed to the general membership and shall be used by the committee to prepare the slate of nominees.

Publicity

Responsible for exploring ways to publicize the Club.  Contacts the media to cover events. Works with the Ways and Means Committee to prepare fliers, posters, and any advertisements for the clothing sales and other fundraising events.

Revisions

Responsible for soliciting and reviewing proposed changes to the Bylaws and Standing Rules.

Scrapbook

Helps to collect mementos, take pictures and compose the President�s Scrapbook.

Social

Plans social activities for the club, helps with invitations and decorations for the club�s social events and fundraisers.

State Tree Lighting Celebration

Organizes a celebration of dancers, singers, and games for the general public to enjoy after the State Tree Lighting Ceremony in December.   

Telephone

Places calls to the membership when needed. Monitors the Club's telephone number and routes messages to appropriate people.
