The JWC of Raleigh Community Service Programs (CSPs) offer members opportunities to contribute to the community, to learn, and to enjoy a variety of activities and events. Each club member selects a CSP as her focus for the year, but is encouraged to participate in all club activities of interest. Here’s a snapshot of some of our recent projects and supported organizations:
Arts
- Offering volunteer time and donations to Arts Access events
- Ushering at Raleigh Little Theatre
- Coordinating local arts festivals for middle and high school students
Conservation
- Cleaning up our community along our Adopt-A-Highway section of Glenwood Avenue
- Donating pet supplies to Wake County SPCA
- Planting seeds in the Urban Ministries community garden
Education
- Celebrating the birthdays of children at Loaves and Fishes
- Supporting the literacy programs of Read and Feed
- Offering the Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship
Home Life
- Donating food, toiletries, and well wishes to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House
- Cleaning and preparing furniture for The Green Chair Project
- Providing Angel Tree gifts to the children at Raleigh Rescue Mission
International Outreach/Public Issues
- Collecting coins for UNICEF
- Supplying clothes, recycled cell phones, and household items for victims of domestic violence at InterAct
- Planning an activity for the Chrysalis Club, a program at the NC Correctional Institution for Women
Fund Development
Developing and implementing fundraising activities that support the work of the club in the community and that benefit the organization chosen as the President’s Project each year.
